Today the UEFA Cup trophy was returned to UEFA by the defending champions, Sevilla FC, at a special handover ceremony staged in the historic Old Fruitmarket at the City Halls in Glasgow. Representatives of Sevilla FC handed the trophy to UEFA’s president, Michel Platini, who then handed it to, the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Liz Cameron, for the city to keep and display to the public until the final, to be played at Hampden Park on Wednesday 16th May 2007.
Once the handover ceremony concluded the UEFA Cup trophy was handed to John Thompson of Specialized Security.
Specialized Security are now responsible for the safekeeping and transporting of the trophy as it tours around the City of Glasgow from Saturday 17th March until Tuesday 15th May.
