Glastonbury Festival 2010

As 40th Glastonbury Festival drew to a close with both Stevie Wonder and Michael Eavis singing "Happy Birthday" on the Pyramid Stage, Specialized Security considered it another job well done.
Working as part of a co-ordinated team of security companies, Specialized Security were primarily responsible for the security and crowd management of main stage areas at this year’s festival including the Pyramid Stage, Interstage VIP Hospitality, Other Stage and West Holts Stage.
Throughout the arena Specialized Security also provided the security and crowd management personnel for The Queens Head, Orange Chill 'n' Charge and Playstation's Cocktails and Dreams venues.
The capacity festival crowd of 177,500 enjoyed a fantastic weekend of weather at the Worthy Farm site, with none of the legendry Glastonbury mud to be seen.
This years festival was headlined by The Gorilaz, Muse and Stevie Wonder on the Pyramid Stage and The Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys and Orbital on the Other Stage. Other highlights on these stages were Rolf Harris, Snoop Dogg, Slash, Dizzee Rascal with his guest Florence Welsh and the Scissor Sisters with their guest Austrailian pop legend Kylie Minogue.
The World Cup results during the week which put England up against Germany in the Quarter Finals on the Sunday afternoon was always going to provide a headache for the festival production team. Having seen the crowds that watched the final group game on the Wednesday it was decided that the capacity of the field planned for the screening of the Quarter Final was not going to be large enough, so a second field on the other side of the site was setup to also screen the game. A very successful co-ordinated security operation was put in place to manage the distribution of the crowds between the two fields in which Specialized Security played a major part. Unfortunately for the watching fans the England team didn't perform well with Germany winning 4-1.
